I swear.

Fairly early on in the wedding planning stage, we booked a DJ. He came very well recommended, and he works with my dad, and we are super excited to have him do our wedding. Once we booked him, he sent us a list of favorite songs for everything from bridal party entrance to the last song. I never even knew you had to pick music for some of these things! Harv and I had kinda been throwing around different ideas for our first dance song, and while I would love to do something unique, I would rather spare myself the embarrassment. We went to a wedding last year where they started dancing to a slow song, the CD skipped, the groom freaked out, a mix tape started, and they rocked out. All completely planned, unbeknownst to the guests. It was hilarious and so much fun. However, it is no surprise to anyone that knows me, I CAN NOT DANCE TO SAVE MY LIFE. So the ol' sway back and forth to a slow song it is...

Anyways, the song has proven to be quite a bit more difficult than originally anticipated. Everything else has been easy.

What kind of flowers do you want?
White ones. And pink ones.

What kind of food would you like to serve?
The kind that tastes good.

You guys get the idea... But this first dance song for some reason has set out to drive me nuts. It seems all of the first dance songs are either really old, or country, or are like 7 minutes long. Don't get me wrong, I like country songs, I just wanted to try and find something not so twangy. And remember the whole not being able to dance thing? Why on Earth would I want to sway for 7 minutes? Let alone, make you sit and watch me. We need something short and sweet. I was thinking more Gavin DeGraw-ish. Harv says I'm cheesy. Direct quote. And everything I do find that I like, and Harv agrees with, is about a guy singing to his girl... I wanted something a little more well rounded. Does that even make sense? Starting to see our dilemmas?

Harv came home with an epiphany yesterday.

Kar, I found the perfect song. And I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner. I LOVE THEM. This was like my favorite group when I was younger. And it's not country! As he is frantically scrolling through his iTunes and I'm getting nervous...

And as he hits play, from the computer across the room I hear,

I swear. By the moon and the stars in the sky. And I swear. Like the shadow that's by your side.

And he calls me cheesy...

Long story short, we need your help, suggestions, and divine intervention. Unless you would be able to live with yourself knowing that Harv picked that song and you did nothing to save me. Gotta love him.

At Last, by Etta James, but sung by Beyonce in Cadillac Records would be soooo great!

Here's a youtube link so you can hear it. It's a classic that EVERYONE has heard and can be about both of you. Also, you don't have to do any fancy dancing, just swaying, and it's only a little over 1-1/2 minutes long.

Here's the lyrics:
At last, my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song
Oh, yeah, at last
The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clovers
The night I looked at you
I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to rest my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known
Oh, yeah when you smile, you smile
Oh, and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine
At last

I'm so jealous! for two reasons...

1. I dont even have a groom, and I already knew I wanted that to be MY first dance song

and 2. I also thought it was a great song and wanted to lend it to you.

I thought I was going to be really thoughtful and actually try to contribute to your wedding...and Jenene beat me to it. Needless to say, I second her opinion.
